The only way you would not have a heat riser on a gasoline 460 is if it has a LP gas intake manifold. If it has , it will never run well on gasoline. Far as the distributor, you said you timed it to 30 degrees btdc at wide open throttle so the next thing you need to do on timing and timing advance it to observe the advance from low idle all the way up in steps to full advance and it should be gradual. Should be tdc at low idle and work its way up with engine speed to full 30 degrees . The six cyl engines aren't real bad about tearing up the distributor advance mechanisms like the four cyl but of course they do get worn and sticky and weak.
