Jim, There is a very handy book authored by Guy Fay of IH fame titled "International Harvester Tractor Data Book" which is a wealth of info on the older IH tractors through the 1950's and maybe a little later. It contains all the codes and what they mean along with a lot of information on each of the the models along with the lettering and numbering systems utilized by the IHC folks. It is very inexpensive and can probably be found at any good bookstore or on-line at Amazon dot com among others selling on the internet. The US price noted on the back cover is $12.95 but can usually be found for a lesser price. It is published by Motobooks International at 1-800-826-6600 or at www dot motorbooks dot com.
