I have a Farmall 504 diesel and it has the option of "high-speed first and reverse". I believe this was a cultivating option. Point is it will run 3 mph in 1st and reverse. I use the TA a lot for loader work and have left it in TA all day making probably 200 direction changes a day with out adverse affects. This is just in one day. My tractor has been in TA more than direct drive for the past 3-4 years. If it is adjusted and kept adjusted (TA and clutch linkage) it will run forever.
