IH purchased the engines from a company called Continetal and put those in 350D tractors. No start on gas was used. A electric manifold heat element was optional, not all were equiped. They were a lightweight engine for a diesel, Continetal made a gas engine not much different. They used what was called energy cells to put less stress on pistons, rods and crankshaft during combustion. I know some of those crankshafts are turned undersized, but if I remember correct they were considered throw away crankshafts when they first came out. Turning wasn't recomended. GD 193 was the engine model, 193 cubic inch. Depends who you talk to on the GD. To some that had trouble the GD stood for cuss words. Some had the bottom end go out pretty quick and some never had a problem.
