It shouldn't take anything more than two quick eyeball checks to make sure that everything between the front and back are disconnected. Fuel line and choke linkage on the left, wiring on both sides, governor linkage on the right, hydraulic manifold if you have one. And the steering. Other than that the only thing holding you back might be the dowel pin(s) between the torque tube and the crankcase, which have a tendency to make things want to come of really straight. If there's nothing else hindering things, and little back and forth, up and down fiddling with a prybar between the two ought to get hem apart.
Last thing, and it's not a small one. Dou you have the front steering arms and wheels blocked/wedged so that they can't turn? If not do. The front wheels will will turn and fold if not held in place when the tractor is split behind the motor. It could be the torque/twisting effect of them trying to do that that could be binding on the aforementioned dowel pins that is binding things up.
