TheTA can be used any time it is needed. A couple of cautions though, with the older tractors wit a mechanical TA. When you pull it back or release it, DO NOT ease it in or out. This will burn up the clutch packs. To go to high range, squeeze the lever and let it go. Also, on the older tractors, the tractor will be free wheeling with the lever pulled, but DO NOT let it coast down hhill like that. The overspeed will destroy the TA. I saw one that had exploded in the case when the owner was coasting down hill too fast and let the lever ahead. Also, the oil should bechanget in the transmission every couple of years because hy-tran absorbs water, and the condensation will damage the clutches.Other than that feel free to use it all you want. We had a 350 which we used to plow in low side most of the time, and had no problems with the TA for probably 12-15 years of hard use.
