IH had a filtering tool kit for cleaning up the system after failures where there was a lot of debris left in the tractor. You blocked off the bypass valves in the filters and used a different part number filter. The other part was an auxiliary filter that was in a loop from the hydraulic couplers to flush the auxiliary valves and lines.
The blocked off bypass filters were to insure that no oil made it to the pumps without passing through a filter. The filters used are not as fine a restriction as the normal filter to ensure that they flow enough oil with the bypass valves blocked off.
