An Orange Farmall??

In an earlier post, someone mentioned an orange Farmall. Amazing that they should mention that. I am an A-C fan, but a Farmall wanna-be and soon gonna-be. I went to Greenville, SC to visit family the other week and spotted a little orange tractor in an old used car lot. I stopped to look at it and found that it was not an A-C, but was a 1950 Farmall Cub with sickle mower. It was complete and in VG condition. The car lot owner said that he had bought it as part of a package deal from a local farmer. He and I both figured that someone had put on the ancient orange paint job because that was the only color that he had. We figured to scrape off a little of the orange in an isolated place and find the Farmall red. On closer inspection, we found no red paint anywhere. It was not exactly the old A-C orange, but was not the newer A-C orange either although the paint was faded from being what appears to be a full 50 years old. I put a deposit down on the machine even though it wouldn't start. However, the block and radiator looked intact with no cracks or leaks. The oil, hydraulic fluid, final drive lube, and coolant looked good. The steering was tight and the front bearings were tight. I am going to pick up the tractor in a couple of weeks, then I will have a Farmall that matches my A-Cs. Does anyone have any idea why it would have been originally painted orange?
