I've spent quite a bit of time on both tractors and it's a real toss up. There are more implements available for the IH, but unless it has FastHitch, it's easier to put 3pt on the JD. The A has one major weak point: the steering box. It can get real sloppy and is expensive to redo. The M has two weak points: It steers harder than the A and is also susceptible to steering woes and the Upper drive shafts between the differential and final drives can be a real problem on high time units. To me it's a coin toss. My $.02
