I have had my h and my 574 gas do the same thing that you are describing. After trying all the things that you have already done, I would run the engine up to wide open throttle with the air intake tube off, and put my hand over the throat of the carb until the engine would just about die. Then I would pull my hand away. Usually a few times of doing this causes an enormous amount of fuel to come blasting through the carb and also creates tons of vacuum and generally cleans all residual crap out of the carb. Just a thought that might save you rebuilding the carb.
