The tractors however are heavily ballasted. There's 3 IHC weights on each rear wheel (1 outside; 2 inside). Also a couple stacks of plate weights or a box of concrete cantilevered off the rear end. The plow frame itself is made of very heavy structural steel that runs the full length of the tractor (it's the "shield" you spotted below the frame rails). And I suspect the tires are loaded.
So the plows do not lack for traction even on hills - I've yet to see one get stuck.
