These tractors were built over 50 years ago with engineering that is just as old. I have to believe that there is more up to date knowledge about ignition systems and fuel systems out there to be utilized. Look at the high performance equipment put out by the Big 3 in the 60's and early 70's that was advanced beyond what came down the assembly line for your run of the mill mom and pop grocery getter. Were the engineers at teh Big 3 less qualified than those of IH?
Think about the Hayes Dual Point Distributor for the Fords of that era. Oh, wait, sorry to confuse you, I believe you were the one that was stumped by a mid 60's Mustang distributor. Sorry for going over your head teach. Stick with the 2 cylinder Deere's, they're only half as complicated. Anyway, I'm just picking on you to make a point, 50 year old technology can be improved upon.
BTW, recurving and changing the advance the distributor when I had my Mustang 30 years ago really woke it up.
