Its an umbrella holder.The dealers had several models to chose from. The one model hinged atthe top of the pole to center the shade over your head. There were lots of mounts available in those yrs. The B i cultivated with had the mount on the seat support and i had the speaker for the radio mounted under the cover for great sound a;sp the piece of wire for the antenna worked well also. Radio was mounted on a board fastened to the diff housing. It was used for many yrs that way.
