Hy tran is noted in my book as the lube of choice for everything but the engine and lift, there is some leakage at the pulley as there was at the steering box, I replaced the steering box fluid with 85/ 90 no more leaks, it was suggested by a fellow who works on IH tractors that the only thing he , they used Hy tran in was the hydraulic lift, anywhere else was the 85/90 gear oil. It s a summer tractor for mowing basically, 2nd gear for hours, so shifting isn t a problem.My book has little to say about the tranny or pulley drive.
