As far as I know, The early C tractors had the C-113 engines, and when it was made into a super C (SC) it was changed to the C-123 engine. You can use an engine out of a power unit, but will have to leave out one bellhousing bolt on the mag side of the engine. The power unit engines with electric starters had a notch in the block so that a starter could be bolted up. The tractor engines had the starter mounted behind the flywheel, while the power unit engines had the starter mounted ahead of the flywheel. I know of a guy that has a C-123 power unit engine mounted in his "C" tractor. It will work, but you can tell in a hurry that it was out of a power unit. A quick way to see what engine it is, is to find the casting number on the block on the right side of the engine just above the magneto/distributer, close to the head. I have yet to see a C-113 engine with a C-113 casting number. I hope this helps.
