If you have high speed internet service, it is a nice change.
If you have dial up or what I call "country-dial-up) it is a terrible change.
Most of the web sites these days have written off the dial up folks. The animation content kills you, the many photo-like banners, etc. Even software updates, downloads for your camera, etc. are so big that the net either times out or has so many errors that it can't complete because the bundles are too big (500MB+) for the slow transmission rate. If you have dial up, and can't reasonably get anything else (there are some options, none as good as city folks have, and they are too expensive), you are basically more & more pushed into the ditch every passing day.
Really rural areas can at best obtain a 'real' rate that is maybe 10% of the 56K that the dial up modem is claimed capable, whereas in town, near rge exchange office, you can see close to 50K.
