if you are using the belly pump to drive the splitter, the later pumps only produced 800-100psi of pressure. the earlier pumps were lower pressure, somewhere around 600 psi or so. i ran a splitter of my m for a while, just tied the rod back. about the only way to get more ummph is to run a big diameter cylinder on the splitter. now, i use a pto driven pump on my farmall b to drive the splitter, about 2250 psi pump. splits a whole lot better.
