My opinion on this is, Most hydraulic systems in the older tractors have or had water in the oil. When unused for a period of time the water settles in the bottom of the bore of the internal lift cylinder causing rust spots and small pits. When using the 3pt the Orings on the lift piston are scarred by the rust spots and then leak. Usually a hone job and new O rings will help but not completly correct. Isn't there a place on the rear of the 656's you can remove and see the internal cylinder.
