Thank you all very much for your help. Is the owners manual listed as super A-1 the right one??
I'm kinda in between a rock and a hard place here The guy I bought the tractor from says he has the owners opr. manual for the tractor, BUT he hasn't been able to find it yet. Here's my problem, conditions are perfect here in Ky. to plow this weekend and I have a space about 100 by 100 that I would like to plow, but I would like to make real sure that everything is full. I understand about the engine oil and the drive train, now I just need to know about the hydrolic oil and any things else I maybe over looking. Here's a little history, I was told the tractor was used last year to plow and disk a vege garden and the owner had no problems "This tractor starts and runs great" but it does have a little whine in the trans and in what I beleive to be the hydrolic pump. I feel like a 43 yr. old kid, with a new toy, so as kids all do I had to check it out so we rode it around for a couple of hours and I had no problems. Last night I thought I would put it in the carport on a concrete floor to check for leaks, and guess what I have a leak and I haven't been able to find it yet. I have about 2 oz. of a redish oil that looks a little like, thick auto trans. fluid. It's centered under the oil pan in a line about 18" long at a 45 degree angle. At first I thought maybe it was farmall blood, and called for my wife to come running. I thought maybe she could help. She's a nurse and works in surgery. I ran a small engine shop for 11 years in eastern Ky., but I've never fooled with any tractors just mowers saws tillers and the like. The older engines like the one on the farmall were designed to run on leaded fuil, the lead acted as a engine lub. Do any of you all ad lead to your gas??? Thanks again
Mike
