The 5.9 Cummins is a great engine for tractors that originaly had bad engines. Some Olivers, Allis Chalmers, etc. I would never replace an IH 400 series engine with one though. The IH engine is a bolt in deal where as the Cummins will take some cobbling. The 400 series are great engines but they sometimes come unglued too. I just don't think this is a situation that calls for a Cummins.
