Gosh, it's been since 1967 when I had to work on my "H" transmission. (8th grade). I remember changing the 4th-5th sliding gear without splitting the tractor. I did have to remove the transmission cover. Lucky I did because the Bull Gear bolt was almost out! Wish I could help more. I really like working on old tractors. Wouldn't mind doing it for other people if I could make a living at it
