All kinds of things to use. A heavy implement on the back will do it. If you want to keep it more compact, you can make a plain old weight. I've seen some that were just grease drums (or even the bigger 55 gal variety cut down a little) with rods driven through them for the 3-pt arms and something rigged for the top link, then filled with scrap iron, sand, cement, whatever's heavy. My neighbor made his on the same principle -- built a form, about 2'x2'x3'high, centered the bar crossways through and extending out enough on each side the form. Filled it with scrap ron and moncrete, and set two loops (with a dead-man cross-piece on the bottom) that he'd made from some heavy scrap steel plate for his top link. Don't know what it actually weighs, but it's quite fatherly and does the job.
