Cold hydraulic systems will run slow until the oil warms up. Depending on the system that could take a while, from several minutes to an hour.
One way to warm the oil up quick is to raise the bucket all the way and force the oil to go through the relief valve. I didn't say it was SMART, just quick. This is not a good idea as you are then stressing the rest of your 70-year-old hydraulic system in cold weather. Something could go "pop" on you, and it's no fun fixing hydraulics in the middle of the driveway in the middle of a snowstorm.
