Far as I know the cooler 386 is fine for a tractor that gets used and worked hard for long periods and the temperaute is kept up, while if its for light duty and parade use the hotter 388 may be better to reduce premature fouling......HOWEVER those are resistor plugs while the 3116 (heat range similar to 386 and 388) is a NON resistor. Thats not so critical in coil distributor ignitions then in a magneto ignition where Id prefer wire core non resistive wires and non resistor plugs.
