The 436 in the 986 had several minor changes compared to the 414 NA. Reason given at the time was to improve the fuel economy in the natural aspirated engines to make them more comparable to the turbo charged engines as to hp hrs per gal of fuel and of course keep HP up to or more then latest 966. Injection nozzles was one of the changes. It did nothing for the starting and clean up on them though as they became touchier than the 414 was in the 966. And they did also drop rpm back down to 2400 rated.
