If it is not a restoration piece (even if it was maybe) I would take it to a good welder before going through all that hassle. Obviously you didn't show us a picture of the problem, but a good welder can repair cast. Don't go to one that uses nickel rod or thinks they need to preheat...they are working with 20 year old technology. There are two rods out there that get the job done. Super Missle Rod is the second one, but I don't remember the name of the first (and better) one. Having just done most of this project this summer I would avoid it if possible. BTW REMOVE BULL GEARS FIRST!!!
