Well, here is the deal, the ta has an overrunning one way clutch , there fore the direct drive clutch (high range, lever ahead) must be released so tractor can roll back to relieve gear train wind up. In other words, when you push clutch pedal in the ta clutch should release the same amount as pulling the ta lever if everything is adjusted correctly, provided that the ta works. Some times the fingers get so worn out and or a pin comes out or part way out of the ta 7 inch clutch that it will not down shift into ta and therefore will not roll back so you cannot relieve gear wind up, thus hard to get out of gear when it needs to roll back . Drive up an incline, push in clutch and tractor needs to roll back. OK.
