Yes the incorrect will eventaully ruin a T/A
You want to be aggressive with it and push it in and out realtivly quickly, do not feather it
You should also know that the key to a long lived T/A is proper adjustment(just something you should know)
For mowing, A bad T/A is acceptable (for that matter you can get by with a bad t/a doing anything) because you still have direct drive
However if y=themower becomes bogged down while mowing or plowing it would be nice to be able to slow the tractor by pulling the T/A lever back to slow your foward prgress to let the mower cut what it already is mowing
