I don't recall how the steering shaft lies in an A, but if it has a straight section at least 16-18" long where a bracket to hold a Char-Lynn torque motor can be built, I don't know why not. I would go with an automotive belt driven pump, like a Saginaw (GM) with a reservoir on it, and hook it up... two hoses. Char-Lynn (Eaton) is a current product line and should be available somewhere.
My 240U has it mounted in a straight section along the left side of the motor, but it would be the right side on the A.
