Unless you like ancient iron for everyday use....find yourself a JD 2150 or even a mid '70's vintage JD 830....both are really fine machines and shouldn't break the bank to buy. They're old enough to be affordable, but modern enough to have the features you want. The Ford 3930 is a fine machine as well....a big improvement over the earlier 3910. A Massey 245 is another tough nut well worth looking into.
