It might be an arthritis condition that makes pushing the button uncomfortable. And it can be a "pain in the thumb".
So if the motion to activate the glow plugs were different, there might not be any discomfort. That's how arthritis works. Not all motion in a joint is painful. Only certain vectors. I assume the operator has "work arounds" to compensate for other manual functions relating to tractor operation. Like maybe a "suicide knob" or some such.
Why don't we compromise with a momentary toggle switch?
