That is only partially correct. Indeed the model is E-12, but there are 2 versions. 50983DC is for the gasoline only with the X1 serial number suffix, and carburetor number 47387DC is for the distillate fuel version with NO serial number suffix. The 2 carburetors are basically the same, and will readily interchange. The 47387 can be rebuilt with the kit for the 50983, and is then set up correctly for an M that is using gasoline. The 2 numbers, 47387 and 50983 can be found on a small, round, brass tag that is riveted to the top portion of the carb in the area where the governor tube attaches.
