Serial # L 504802 and higher came with 3 bolt. Original starter used a switch with lever on top operated by a pull rod. If you have a actual solenoid mounted on top with 2 bolts and a metal strap to post, it and starter are probably from a 300 to 450 tractor or some others and could be 6 or 12 volts. Sometimes it will say on the solenoid, or have a number that could be checked. Saw tractors converted to 12 with 6 volt solenoids that worked for a long time so don't know how much difference it makes. Most 12 volt have a small extra terminal on them to send full voltage to the coil when cranking.
