OK. Concur that the "freeze" plugs don't protect against a freeze up (mine didn't). But couldn't the sand left behind in the water jecket just get removed through the cylinders openings since this is a wet sleeve engine? There must be some other reason for having that plug there. I can see the cap on the cam shaft covers the hole left when the camshaft bearings were bored, but there is no apparent reason for the plug on the left side. Or am I all confused on the wet sleeve engine's construction?
