I rebuilt the whole rear end of my H without splitting. While it is apart, might as well put in new bearings if yours are worn. One thing though, the new aftermarket constant mesh gears are VERY noisy for some reason. Mine made a whine that you could hear 3 blocks away! had it back apart several times and still whined. Put in a good used set of gears and no more whine. Get bearings and seals from a bearing house/ or an industrial power transmission supply company and it won"t cost nearly as much to do the job. I got my Bearings and seals from "Coldwell" in Terre Haute IN. I did get the gaskets from Case IH.
