MJ in the UK said: (quoted from post at 12:04:39 07/09/09) Hi Roy, i used to sell 474,475,574 tractors in Lincs and Notts in the 1970s The 474 tractor had the short stroke D206 4 cyl engine with poor torque so IH fitted the Perkins AD212 engine as fitted to the MF165 tractor. The 574 tractor had the D239 engine and was a far better pulling tractor than the 475 or the MF165 or the Ford 4000.Just an early reminder that the big tractor show at Newark Nottinghamshire on November 7th & 8th this year will feature IH tractors. MJ
MJ and Roy, when I was at the tractor show at Newby Hall thee was an IH tractor there that looked like a 574 but decal was unreadable. The engine did not appear to be a D239 but was a 4 cyl Diesel with a CAV injection pump and oil filter was under the injection pump. Was this the 474/475 that you are described? Put a photo in Help Indetify under Unknow IH in UK.
