Doyle: That is a lot of rain, and I can well imagine you had flooding.
I can remember Aug 1971, I had just started to harvest 75 acres of in bloom alfalfa on flood plain. My 560 and 300 were on a high knol in middle of field. Over night we had 9" of rain. Water was up to axles on the Farmalls. We could only get to them by boat, didn't even try, waited for water to go down. The alfalfa was toast, we put it in silo, cows wouldn't eat it, too much sand. Even if we mixed it 25% with clean alfalfa, they backed off from maximum consumption. My dad told me last time that much rain happened was the week I was born in 1942.
