Bob, thanks for your help. It looks like I have the "deluxe" switch, cause it has 4 positions and they work just like you described. You must be very knowledgeable when it comes to tractors, cause I see your name on quite a few answers to questions in the forum. It's guys like you that keep the rest of us on track, and I appreciate your good advice. Big Mike, it sounds like you're into a restoration, and I'd do the same thing if I were you - replace the entire harness with the right thing. The reason I'm going cheap is cause that's the kind of guy I am, and not only that, I'm still working this ol' '45 on my small 3 acre patch to keep the pasture from getting out of hand in the summer and snow off the driveway in winter. Someday I just might get up the ambition to do a complete resto, cause these ol' A's are so damn cute you just need to keep 'em goin. I want to put my first grandson on mine and show him how things were done a few years ago (granddaughter would do just fine - either one - if my boys someday would stop messin' around and settle down - no rush ;>)).

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
