Hugh, I`m curious as to why you think the whole beam assemblies wouldn`t interchange.We might be talking 2 different things here, but I`m positive they will interchange-at least on the IH plows I have that have the box beam backbone ( 2 channel irons welded face to face)which would include #211,311, and 312. These plows were offered either way, rigid or trip beam, and by removing the 4 long 5/8" carriage bolts that go down through the box beam,you remove the whole assembly (plate,beam and bottom) and the other type will bolt right up . Like I said earlier, you may be talking something different from what I`m interpreting from your post and I`m sorry if thats the case.I just want to clear up any confusion.
