Andy: Right on, a lot of folks just can't resist over filling a tractor rear end-transmission. Then couple that with the fact of added water. More water runs down a Farmall gear shift lever than down the stack if left uncovered in the rain. that gear shift lever is much like an open port.
I know my 130 and 140, if I leave them out in rain, even 1" rainfall without a cover over the shift lever, next morning transmission will be overfull. All that and the uncovered stack will not blow black soot.
Next, these guys don't work the tractor hard enough anymore to evaporate the water from the transmission.
