Got my third F-12 going today. Bought it a few years ago when the son was cleaning his parent's place after his dad/original owner died. It was stuck and the block was cracked above the fuel pump as is common. When I opened it up, it didn't take much to unstick and thought maybe it was mostly a stuck valve. Three cylinders were really clean and one had a little rust. And the push rod that matched a stuck vale was badly bent. Had the head redone, got the "carmel" out of the tank, cleaned the crud from the fuel lines, cleaned up a better set of points from another F4 Mag, new set of plug wires, and borrowed a carb from a runner. Have the crank mechanism undone waiting for a new fan belt, so belt started it this afternoon. It runs w/good oil pressure and the fuel pump works great, but the governor is pretty sloppy and need to adjust the rocker arms for hot settings. And there's a rattle from somewhere towards the front of the mag/mag platform. Figure I'll play around with it a bit and see how bad the rest of it needs overhaul. Been thinking about the camshaft and wondering what kind of damage might have been done to it when the push rod was bent.
