I may have made a major mistake. I was putting new points in the distributor and the screw head that holds part of the points in was really wore out after 40+ years. I decided to replace with a new screw but I didn't have the exact length. I did have one just a little longer and I think that was a mistake. When I tried to start the engine - no fire - wouldn't start. I removed the distributor cap and turned the engine over with the crank - rotor didn't turn. My next question is the distributor gear held in place with a pin or did the gear break off the shaft. I have owned the tractor for more that 40 years - I have I&T manual but it doesn't say - I can't tell from the exploded view. I'll remove it in the morning when I have more time. Just wondering what to expect. Thanks for any help.
