Hmmmmmm. Sure sounds like the cap then. Might be 'carbon tracking' from that one plug tower, or it's button spring might be weak. Not sure how to proceed from here. Might try taking the cap off and laying it down with the wire side down and then eyeballing the buttons for equal height. Any carbon tracking might show up under a close visual inspection under good light. Check the tower for cracks, and make sure you're getting good contact between the button and the base of the plug wire. Wouldn't hurt to check with Rice equipment and see how much a new cap is, too.
