I feel your pain my friend. I sometimes think about when ours will pass on and how am I going to deal with it. I did not have a dog until I was 17 and she is still with my parents. I am 28 now and that makes Sugar, yellow lab 11 years. My wife and I have 3. Female Pomeranian 11 years, Male Pomeranian 8 years, and Male Mutt (lab, hound, great dane, ???, web feet, 90 lbs, lean) for about 3 years. The female pom is an indoor dog and we have no kids. I am going to miss her if she goes. She is ALMOST perfect. No messes, quiet, snuggles, and loves us unconditionally. Actually she is on the couch with me asleep as I type this.
I agree that buring in the yard, close by will help ease the pain. Place a monument of some sort to mark her spot and maybe even a little picket fence.
