it dosnt really matter, as it most likely is both. when the engine gets pulled down for o/h im sure you will take it in for a valve job. you will be notifyed about guides, seats, valves,and possible head shave,and head will be checked for cracks.then you will have a heart attact when he tellls you that will take care of a 500.00 bill or more.but yes it is a good idea to give it a good work out in the field, could smarten it up some if its just been idling around the yard not reaching operating temp.
