Most likely a ball popped out of a bearing and got pushed through by the bull gear like has been mentioned, Now that said, If a ball popped out, most likely all the bearings in the rear may be shot or on the way to being shot. It is fixable, but may cost a bundle of $$$$$ to do it. The cheap way would be find a good rear housing with the trans gears and everything and switch them out. The rear on my H was full of water when I got it and was very noisy even when new gear oil was put it. I ended up changing all the bearings in the rear and trans and I now have a very nice reliable H. An expensive H, but a reliable H. By the way, I have an H rear end, frame rails and partial bolster with no trans gears, but the rear diff and bull gears, rear rims and axels are in it. I will sell for $150 just to move it out of my way. Hate to scrap it. It will roll right up on a trailer if the front end is picked up. It is in west central Indiana 1/2 hour south of Terre Haute.
