If the M is healthy, it will easily handle a 3-14 trailing plow. If the M has been overhauled at some point in its life and given some oversize sleeves/pistons, improved governor, etc, it will do even more. We've pulled a 3-16 mounted JD plow with the 3pt hitch on ours, and it goes anywhere in 2nd, most places in 3rd. Used to occasionally hitch a Moline 4-14 trailing plow on it, and it would handle it quite well, most places in 3rd. Traction may limit you more than HP unless you have some good tires and weights. A lot of people assume these old M tractors put out the HP that the factory specs on them say....and in many cases, that's way UNDER what they now produce.
