According to my owners manual, the mag kill cable is supposed to be used only for an emergency stop, other wise the manual says to turn the fuel off and let it run till it quits. An old JD that I had stopped the same way, and didnt even have a kill switch. Ive also been told that its hard on mags to ground them out to stop the engine. I am currently rebuilding my 1940 "A" and plan on leaving the cable on it. Hope this helps.
