Randy: My life with a 1066 started out with a new 1066 with factory ROPS cab. It was a hell of a lot quieter than anything else I'd operated at the time. I tried out on demonstration Allis, White and Deere, all new tractors, before buying the 1066, I was not impressed. That Deere was not sound guard. We ran the 1066 15,000 hours. Three items keep the cab mounts in good shape, insulation in good shape and keep that stack 6" above the cab.
Put it this way, I've run tractors built 20 years after the 1066 that don't impress me on noise level. By the way at 67 my family claim I hear things I shouldn't. Except my wife, she calls my hearing selective.
