In my opinion the grease zerk is kind of a weird joke. It is explained, but really does not work. The bushing it is "servicing" is, as you point out, not connected. If I were inventing it I would have made provisions for engine oil to be used to lubricate it, with a seal on the distributor end to keep it in. Or a oil hole and flip cap to lube it with real oil annually. Well that is an interesting issue, I think I will drill a hole in my housings like it (when I get into one for other reasons) and make it a lube point with a cap or plug to keep out dirt. The adjuster is probably an attempt to modify by a prior owner. JimN
